Liberica coffee in Malaysia

We roast two single-origin Malaysian Libericas in Kuala Lumpur, from Long Banga in Sarawak and Batu Kurau in Perak. Roasted to order, posted within two working days of roasting. RM7 shipping in West Malaysia, free at RM80 and above. RM12 in East Malaysia, free at RM150 and above.

Liberica is Malaysia's own coffee. The species that replaced arabica here when leaf rust destroyed it in the 1890s, and the one this country never stopped growing while the rest of the world forgot it. The three species, compared. The case for Liberica, in long form.

The two Libericas we roast

Sarawak Liberica Ragi. A rare polyhybrid from Long Banga, anaerobic honey processed. Manuka honey, florality, a wide low note arabica cannot reach.

Taiping Liberica. Washed, from Batu Kurau in Perak. Chocolate, dried fruit, a whisper of clove.

Or both at once. The Malaysian Duo, one bag from each estate, brewed side by side.

The short answers

Where can I buy Liberica coffee in Malaysia?
Online at blaqcoffee.com, posted anywhere in Malaysia within two working days of roasting, or at our Cheras showroom, Monday to Saturday, 11am to 3pm.

Is Liberica the same as kopi?
Same species, different treatment. Traditional kopi roasts Liberica dark with margarine and sugar. Ours is single-estate and roasted clean, so you taste the species itself.

Is Malaysian Liberica organic?
Both of our lots are grown without synthetic inputs. They are organic by practice, uncertified, and we state that difference plainly.
