Mycotoxin testing is carried out by independent laboratories accredited to ISO/IEC 17025. - What is tested. The green, unroasted bean, before roasting. - What the reports show. Not detected for ochratoxin A, aflatoxin B1, total aflatoxins and the 952 pesticide and herbicide residues screened, reported against the laboratory's limit of detection. - Testing scope. Two coffees on sale carry a published laboratory report: Ethiopia Kayon and Peru Palto. An earlier lot, Ethiopia Suke, also has one; that lot has sold out. The Colombian lots and Sarawak Liberica Long Banga Honey have not been screened and are not scheduled to be. The certificates are the farms'; the Cheras roastery is not a certified handler, so no tin carries an organic seal. The Sarawak Liberica is grown without synthetic inputs and holds no organic certificate, so Blaq does not call it organic. The Colombian lots from Finca El Diviso are grown without synthetic inputs by the farm's own account and hold no certificate. Every coffee Blaq carries comes from a farm that uses no synthetic pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers, so glyphosate is never sprayed on it. The Long Banga trees are Libex, a hybrid of Liberica and excelsa. A Kew-led team with Sarawak co-authors named it Coffea × libex in Scientific Reports in May 2026. A Kew-led study (Davis et al., Nature Plants, 2025) puts Liberica and excelsa together at probably under 1,000 tonnes, about 0.01 per cent of world coffee exports. - Sets.
